A board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist, Dr. Himal Shah specializes in the treatment of arrhythmias that can lead to falls, injuries, disabling strokes, and death. She is passionate about improving the quality of life in her patients who are affected by abnormally slow and/or rapid rhythms of the heart. Monitoring modalities for rhythm problems of the heart can aid in diagnosing arrhythmias early, and often before they pose a threat of harm, such as accidents. Fatal arrhythmias – frequently due to weakening of the muscle from heart disease – are successfully treated with the implantation of defibrillators, some of which are used to improve the strength of the heart muscle.
Dr. Shah performs electrophysiology studies and radiofrequency ablation, which is used to treat arrhythmias before they become a permanent part of one’s life. She also treats women who have heart rhythm problems during pregnancy.
